Hudson Headwaters Partners with Glens Falls Hospital to Plan and Develop a New State-of-the-Art Health Center
Queensbury, N.Y. – April 16, 2018 – Hudson Headwaters Health Network and Glens Falls Hospital recently announced a partnership to develop a new health center in Moreau that increases patient access to primary care. Hudson Headwaters and Glens Falls Hospital will break ground this summer, with an anticipated completion date in the spring of 2019.
“This is a step forward towards improving the health of our community,” said Dianne Shugrue, president and CEO of Glens Falls Hospital. “Working together with Hudson Headwaters to ensure that patients in our region have access to the health care they need is a win-win for everyone.”
The new Moreau Family Health center will be built on five acres of land on Route 9, one mile from its current location, and expand from its current size of 4,972 sq. ft. to a much larger space of 24,232 sq. ft. The health center will offer existing services such as comprehensive primary care, pediatrics, women’s health and selected specialties, along with new services such as on-site imaging, lab and pharmacy. This increase in services will enable the patients of Hudson Headwaters and Glens Falls Hospital to access multiple levels of care under one roof.
“Both organizations recognize the need to expand services in Moreau because of a growing population and have made it a priority to work together to serve that need,” said Dr. Tucker Slingerland, CEO at Hudson Headwaters. “Finding better ways to deliver health care requires good communication, joint planning and a willingness to do things we’ve never done before. So, both organizations are really proud of the planning process that went into this and our ability to provide more convenient health care to our patients.”
The new health center will include 18 fully equipped exam rooms, two procedure rooms, one behavioral health room and space for care management and nutrition. It will also feature medical imaging, including x-ray and ultrasound, as well as laboratory services. The final design and plans for the building are contingent upon approval through the appropriate planning process.
“We are thrilled with this partnership with Hudson Headwaters. It fits well into our strategy of expanding our access points in the community and offering more convenient services to patients,” said Tracy Mills, Vice President, Planning at Glens Falls Hospital.
