Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation Awards $25,000 via New Innovation Grant Program
The Board of Directors of the Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation is pleased to announce $25,000 in Innovation Grants to the Hudson Headwaters Health Network. The Innovation Grant program is a new initiative that funds unique and special projects that further Hudson Headwaters’ mission to provide high-quality health care, and access to that care, for everyone in the communities that we serve.
A total of ten grant applications, submitted by department leaders in nursing, care management, Ryan White HIV program, Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention program, and others, were approved for funding.
“No one understands the health care needs of our patients better than the professionals working within our communities,” said Jim Himoff, Foundation board chair. “The Innovation Grant program invites staff members to apply for grants to help meet those needs.”
Projects that received funding included a new provider support group to address and prevent physician and heath professional burnout, a nationally recognized problem. Provider burnout can have negative effects on the quality of care, patient safety and lead to early retirement. The project will provide a safe and anonymous forum for providers to meet twice a month under the supervision of qualified behavioral health experts.
“We hope to provide support to our providers, decrease isolation, develop skills in resiliency and explore approaches to work-life balance,” explained Dr. Colleen Quinn, chief of medical education and wellness. “The Innovation Grant award allows us to invest in the well-being of our medical professionals and, as a result, improve overall patient care as well as the local work environment.”
Another project submitted by the care management team will provide patients enrolled in their program with personal hygiene products and self-management tools such as soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, pocket calendars and more.
“Our care managers work passionately to equip our most at-risk patients with the resources for success,” explained Jessica Fraser, director of care management. “Thanks to the Innovation Grant award, we can address our patients’ immediate self-care needs which will better prepare them to reach their long-term health care goals.”
